At Eastbrook Elementary, we believe in growing hearts and minds—and one of the ways we do that is through our Guiding Principles. For the month of April, our school-wide focus turns to a value that helps shape confident, caring, and capable learners: Responsibility.
Our Grade 2 students launched the month with a fantastic assembly that helped define what it means to be responsible—at home, at school, online, and in the community. With clear examples, engaging slides, and real-life scenarios, the students reminded us all that responsibility is about doing what you're expected to do and accepting the consequences of your actions—whether that means taking the praise or the blame. From cleaning up after yourself to protecting personal information online, they showed us that responsibility is something we can all practise every day.
Throughout the month, staff and students will keep an extra close eye on one important area where responsibility really shows: our boot racks. We want our students to take pride in their school and be responsible for keeping our school clean and tidy. Every week, the classes with the cleanest and tidiest boot racks will be entered into a draw for a class prize and the honour of holding the Grand Golden Boot of Greatness—a trophy awarded “For the best boot rack brilliantly and boldly bespoke!” Our first winner of the Golden Boot Award went out to Miss Connor's Grade 4 class – congratulations.
In addition, staff members will be watching for responsible behaviour all around the school. Students who go the extra mile may be recognised on our Raptor Reward Boards or even nominated for Raptor of the Week (you can learn more about this on our Programs Page.
We’re proud of our students for the way they lead, support one another, and take ownership of their actions. Responsibility is more than a word—it’s a way we create a stronger, more respectful, and more connected school community.
Let’s all rise to the challenge. We can ALL be responsible!
