Celebrating Education Week at Eastbrook Elementary
Each year, schools across Alberta celebrate Education Week—a province-wide initiative that highlights the importance of education and the collaborative efforts of students, staff, families, and the broader community. At Eastbrook Elementary, Education Week (April 7–11) was a chance to celebrate learning, build connections, and shine a light on the people and partnerships that help our students thrive.
Throughout the week, students took part in exciting activities like Estimation Stations in the library, Tournament of Books, daily trivia, buddy math games, and a colourful Trades Dress-Up Day. Classes also created heartfelt raptor-themed “Thank You” banners for local community helpers, which were delivered during our Winter Walk Wednesday by students in Physical Education.
Special events included guest speakers from Careers Next Gen and Career Pathways for our Grade 5 and 6 students, and a visit from local fire, police, and EMS personnel. We also welcomed students from Brooks Composite High School, who joined our younger grades as reading buddies—thank you for being such positive role models!
A highlight of the week was our Family BINGO Night on Wednesday evening, which brought together more than 280 parents, guardians, and students for a fun-filled evening of games and prizes. Thank you to all the families who came out, to the staff who planned the week’s activities, and to everyone who helped make BINGO night a success.
We would also like to give a special thank you to Brooks Event Rentals, and Dalene and Jeff Dingwall, for donating the use of a popcorn machine that added a festive treat to the evening.
Education Week reminds us that learning happens everywhere—and with the support of our amazing school community, there’s always something to celebrate at Eastbrook Elementar
